This was my first experience with a homebirth (after two hospital births) and I couldn’t have asked for a better midwife! Annette is very knowledgeable in all things about birth and is kind and encouraging. She listens to what your needs are and went above and beyond my expectations. Birthing at home was much more comfortable and convenient and I could call Annette with any questions or concerns, which is nearly impossible at a hospital. With Annette you get to choose how you want to birth and she’s there to help. Thank you, Annette, for helping me bring our precious baby boy into the world! Annette is a wonderfully caring and attentive midwife. She was quick to answer any questions and very respectful of my laid back lifestyle/pregnancy. Our experience with Annette is something we always wished we had with a health care provider. She is caring, considerate, and well rounded in her knowledge and experience. She made us feel valuable from the beginning. We always felt comfortable talking to her about our concerns, and she was always willing to listen and cared about what we were sharing. This has not always been our experience in the past with some health care providers, so this was so refreshing! Our appointments were so personable and my 3 year old son absolutely loved her and always looked forward to seeing “Miss Annette.” You can tell she does her job for the right reasons and cares about women’s health and loves children. The only thing we regret is not doing a home birth with Annette our first pregnancy. She is truly a blessing to the Black Hills Community, and we are so thankful for her! ~Justin & Khrista
Annette was a great midwife. My first birthing experience was quite traumatic and fortunately I had Annette for my second child’s birth which made things a lot easier. She was very gentle, patient, and understanding with me as I was very anxious from my last experience. She was also very respectful of my decisions and was not pushy & invasive with me which I appreciated.
Annette was able to sense and see what stages of labour I was in better than myself so she attended to my needs very well. If I remain in the area I would definitely have her as a midwife again! ~Emily H
Annette showed me the God given power I had within myself to bring my sweet baby into this world. Being a first time mom is challenging enough but then defying the norm and choosing a home birth, talk about nerves… but Annette was there, keeping me focused on the end goal. A healthy baby boy!

We had Annette deliver our daughter in December. She was incredibly helpful and was never in a rush. She had a calming presence about her. If we ever get pregnant again we will be having her deliver the next baby as well! I would highly recommend her to anyone. ~Katie H
This was my first home birth experience and it was everything I had ever wanted. Annette is the type of person you want to have present when you are scared or in pain. She has a comforting, steady aura and will put your worries to rest and take incredible care of you. She also will take you seriously if you have a concern. Many women feel they have to “prove” things to physicians, but Annette won’t make you feel that way. You will always feel heard, validated and respected. She respected all of my wishes during pregnancy and birth, I truly felt in control of my experience while also knowing I was in safe caring hands. All my future babies will be delivered by this wonderful lady for sure. If you’re looking for a dedicated, caring, loving and knowledgeable midwife, Annette is who you’re looking for. Annette & Shannon are not merely certified in homebirth services, they are prayerfully dedicated to the families, seeing their care as a valuable calling. After having two low-risk hospital births, Black Hills Midwifery provided professional prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care for our family on a personal, in-home setting. Our experience was much less stressful than our previous hospital options. We believe their care is safe as they are educated, equipped, and experienced both medically and relationally. Thanks to Black Hills Midwifery, our family had the freedom of non-invasive care that best suited what we believe our family needs. ~Rachel
Working with Annette was my first home birth experience. She made sure I had the birth I envisioned. Even though this was my second pregnancy, there was a lot that I didn't understand, know, or remember about the pregnancy or birth and Annette was there every step of the way to explain and help me and my husband make decisions.
